Declaring a Sociology Major

To become a Sociology major, students must complete the following steps:

1. Complete our online Information Session. This is a mandatory first step in declaring your major in Sociology. If you are a transfer student, you may have attended an in-person Information Session at your transfer orientation.

2. Schedule an appointment with Sociology Advising. Details about setting up this appointment will be included in the Information Session.

For your appointment, you will be required to bring materials that you can download from the online Information Session. These materials are not otherwise available. If you do not have the materials, you will be required to complete the Information Session again and reschedule your appointment.

Students must come to an actual appointment in order to declare, rather than walk-in hours, as we discuss and plan your coursework for your Sociology major, explore plans for reaching your overall goals, and fill out the major declaration form.
