I would like to welcome you to the Department of Sociology and introduce myself as your major advisor here at the University. After thirteen years of holding a position in the Institute of Technology, I have worked myself back to my undergraduate roots in the College of Liberal Arts. I earned my undergraduate degree through the School of Journalism where I focused on advertising. I worked at a couple of local ad agencies as a media planner and buyer, but while enjoying the perks of the field, I found myself drawn back to the academic setting of the University.

I returned to the U and started working for a small distance-learning program within IT. I gained experience working with a variety of students. From those finishing their undergraduate programs to doctoral students, I have had the opportunity to help a diverse group of individuals complete their degrees. During this time, I earned my M.Ed. in Adult Education where my field experience allowed me to develop and teach a writing program for the inmates at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Stillwater. My volunteer work also includes working with English language learners.

My free time is spent chasing after an energetic toddler and practicing my advising techniques on my husband, who is a full-time student. I also enjoy working part-time at a Veterinarian’s office where I get to play and take care of a bunch of great dogs and cats while their owners are off on vacations.
