Information for International Prospective Students
It is very important to read through the page on this website entitled Application Information and Admission Procedures.
The general test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required of all applicants to the Sociology Graduate Program.
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) is required of all non-native English speaking foreign student applicants. It is recommended that non-native English speaking applicants also complete the TSE (Test of Spoken English) examination. In the event that taking these standardized tests imposes unusual difficulty, an applicant may petition for waiver of this requirement. Such a petition should be sent with all other department admission materials before December 1.
