Current Research
“Adolescent Sexual Activity and Well-Being.” Using data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, this project examines the effects of early sexual activity on a number of domains of adolescent life including mental health, attitudes and values and relationships with parents and peers. This project is funded in part by Murray Research Center’s Adolescent and Youth Dissertation Award and a training grant from the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development.
“Social Development into Adulthood.” This project investigates the ways in which adolescent social relationships promote or inhibit the development of adult family relationships. It assesses how adolescent relationships with parents, peers, co-workers and romantic partners affect the development and maintenance of young adults’ family relationships with cohabiting partners, spouses, and young children. The analyses rely on data from The National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, the Youth Development Study, and the National Survey of Families and Households. This project is supported by a Research Scientist Early Career Development Award from the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development.
“Religiosity during the Transition to Adulthood.” This project investigates religious identification and involvement patterns from adolescence into adulthood using the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. The work is supported by the Life Course Center in the Department of Sociology.
