Current Research
“Women’s Experience of Violence: Victimization and Offending in the Context of Women's Lives.” This multi-site, multi-level study examines women offenders' experiences with violent offending and victimization, as well as avoided acts of violence.
“The Social Context of Women’s Imprisonment.” This study replicates and builds on research I conducted in two women’s prisons in California in the late 1990s. My primary interest is in determining whether women’s responses to prison transcend politics, and different institutional regimes, and what factors account for any observed variations.Recent Publications
