Lecturers/Teaching Specialists/Visiting Professors

The University of Minnesota Department of Sociology is inviting applications for part time [or occasionally full-time] temporary teaching positions for openings that may occur beginning fall 2007 through summer 2008 to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students (08/27/07 through 08/24/08). Course topics may include but are not limited to: Introduction to Sociology; Introduction to American Criminal Justice; Social Theory; American Race Relations; Race, Class and Gender; Organizations; Sociology of Family; and Criminology.

Candidates must have an M.A. in sociology or a related field and one academic term (quarter or semester) of teaching experience; a Ph.D. and one year of college-level teaching experience is preferred. Selected candidates with a Ph.D. will be appointed as lecturers; candidates with a M.A. or ABD will be appointed as teaching specialists.
