Open Rank Law, Crime and Deviance position

The Department of Sociology at the University of Minnesota invites applications for one full-time, nine-month, regular faculty position for a scholar specializing in the area of Law, Crime, and Deviance.  The appointment will begin Fall 2009 (August 31, 2009) and will be at the rank of tenure-track assistant professor, associate professor with tenure or professor with tenure, depending upon qualifications and experience and consistent with Collegiate and University policy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidates will be expected to participate in both the undergraduate and graduate curricula, to maintain an active research agenda, and contribute to service appropriate to the appointment rank. Salary is competitive.

 

REQUIRED/ PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS:

Applicants at the tenure-track level must be ABD in sociology or a related field or have a Ph.D. completed. Completion of a Ph.D. is necessary to begin in a tenure-track assistant professor position.  Applicants for a tenured position must possess a distinguished record of scholarship and teaching that meets the criteria for tenure at the University of Minnesota.

Applicants will be evaluated based on the following criteria: research excellence and relevance to the field, teaching effectiveness, and service.
